My Freshman Year

My freshman year was overall very fun and exciting, but hectic and fast. In the fall I had football practices every night and games every Saturday. I loved playing football with the guys and playing the game I love. Freshman Academy helped me out a lot with improving my skills in writing and reading, as well as, math and science too. My teachers were always nice to me and friendly too. The first day of school was a scary experience for me, because of all the people and the large building. I excelled in my classes in the first Semester with a 4.0 GPA and ranking 51st in my class. After football season, I tried wrestling on for size. I'll be honest, I was terrible, but I improved toward the end of the season, but I don't think that I will do that again. I love skiing, so I frequently went on mini ski trips when I could, in between school and wrestling tournaments. As spring came, I went on to track and started to fall a bit in my grades; I went from a 4.0 GPA to a 3.8 GPA when the third quarter was commenced. I got them back up though, through the support of my parents and the drive I have in me. They helped my dig down and bring the grades back up some more. The track season went well, but also fast, no pun intended. I ran well, not what I hoped for though, I wanted a metal, but came up short. Some meets I would get first in all my heats, but not overall. Now I have come a long way since the beginning of freshman year. I'm one year older, met some new friends and became a lot smarter. I hope to have a great summer and come back for Sophomore year ready to make more friends, learn even more and play that game that I love so much.

Animal Farm

In the end of the book Animal Farm, the pigs, leg by Napoleon, took over the farm. First, the pigs started walking on their hind legs, then they started wearing human clothing. The pigs started using whips. All of the other animals didn't get enough food and the pigs took all the animal's food. Napoleon traded with the humans, against the 7 commandments, which the pigs changed all of them. Napoleon then had a dinner with the humans, there he changed the name of Animal Farm back to its original name, Manor Farm. The animals could not even see the difference between the animals and the humans.

Animal Farm

What causes a revolt against a leader? In the book Animal Farm, Old Major, an old pig, has a dream of a perfect world without humans ruling animals across Europe. He persuades the other animals to revolt against the humans. If the animals revolt, they can not be like the humans, or they will just be like the other ruler. Also, they can not eat animals, how are they be able to get food? They want to revolt against the humans, because the animals only are given enough food to just get by, when they get old, they get sold or killed brutally. The pigs are slaughtered and eaten after they are too old. The eggs get taken from the hens and eaten for the humans. The dog, when it gets old, a rock is tied around its neck and thrown into a lake. The day that the horse dies, the horse is chopped up and either eaten or sold in the market. If the animals revolt, they can not be like the humans, or they will just be like the other ruler. Also, they can not eat animals, how are they be able to get food? Old Major leads this revolt against the humans. Similarly, in my own life, I have seen kids want to "revolt" against teachers or parents to create a "perfect" or better world, but that never happens. This brutal cycle of life is necessary for life.

How does someone gain or maintain power?

What is power? Power is a person, group, or nation having great influence or control over others. A person can gain power by manipulating people who are in charge. They can also lie about certain things that they can or will do. You often see this in the common workplace or in politics. Some people also gain power by being in the family of the ruler. Also, a person gains power by showing great leadership skills and a little persuasion. Someone can gain power by looking the right way or having good speaking skills. A ruler can maintain power by making the right moves or saying the right thing.

Why are people overweight in America?

Why are the people in this country so overweight? Some people think the biggest reason for overweight people in this country is laziness and lack of motivation, but the biggest reason is simply the fast food industry.

I could see the factors could be laziness or lack of exercise because they are big reasons for America’s weight problem. Lack of motivation to get off the couch and being too busy also contribute to weight gain. Because we are on the go so much, we just pick up fast food to eat and then never loose the weight that we gained. Once people are hungry they will eat anything that is fast and easy to get. Also, people get lazy and don’t want to cook food.

I think that the biggest reason for obesity is simply fast food. Fast food is the biggest reason is false advertising, saturated fats, fatty acids, high sodium, and high cholesterol. It doesn’t help when they supersize the fries and drinks either. The biggest company to blame is McDonalds because of their deep fried foods. Here are some of the foods that are the worst for you. For example, a double quarter pounder with cheese has 19 grams of saturated fat, 740 calories, 380 calories from fat, 42 g of trans fat, 155 mg of cholesterol. A large French fry has 500 calories, 25 g of fat, 3.5 g of saturated fat, 350 mg of sodium and 220 calories from fat. A new angus bacon and cheese burger has 790 calories, 350 calories from fat, 39 g of total fat, 17 g of saturated fat, 145 mg of cholesterol and 2070 g of sodium.

These items may be a fast choice, or even taste good, but they some of the worst foods for you because of the high cholesterol, high sodium and trans fats. There are many reasons for overweight people in America, but the biggest reason is McDonalds fast food. If you must choose a fast choice, Taco Bell offers a "Fresco" option to put on your choice. They put on tomatoes and lettuce and take out the fake cheese. Another healthy choice would be Sub Way or a sandwich shop. They have healthy choices that won't leave you feeling sick after you ate it. The bottom line is that there are much healthier choices out there.
